Peruvian Canadian Institute Publishes Book to Commemorate Bicentennial

The Peruvian Canadian Institute, an initiative of Huntington University based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, is celebrating the launch of a bilingual book created to commemorate Peru’s Bicentennial year. 

 

The book, entitled Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial, was officially launched in Ottawa, Canada on June 29, 2022 at the official residence of His Excellency Roberto Rodríguez Arnillas, Ambassador of Peru in Canada. 

 

On August 15, 2022, the book was officially launched in Lima, Peru with an event held in partnership with the Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú. 

 

“This significant book, published by the Peruvian Canadian Institute and edited by Founding President, Dr. Kevin McCormick, is composed of articles written by renowned experts who, in their everyday life, have a strong link to Peru. In their articles, they address the academic, cultural, bilateral economic relationship, the business world and the bond that links Peru and Canada from their perspective. Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial includes 14 articles in Spanish and English, written by Ambassadors and government officials from both Peru and Canada, academics, and organizations such as the CHIRAPAQ Centre for Indigenous Cultures of Peru, ParlAmericas, the Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce, CUSO International and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. 

 

The book is being distributed through the Peruvian Canadian Institute with limited copies available. 

 

About the Peruvian Canadian Institute

 

The Peruvian Canadian Institute, which has been in development since 2015 and is led by Founding President, Dr. Kevin McCormick, is an initiative of Huntington University based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.  The Peruvian Canadian Institute aims to support enhanced relationships between Peru and Canada through its activities which include a Distinguished Fellowship program, academic awards, educational partnerships, as well as events in both Peru and Canada.  Most recently, the Peruvian Canadian Institute launched a bilingual book to commemorate the Bicentennial entitled, Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial. During 2021, the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru, the Peruvian Canadian Institute played an active role in celebrating and highlighting outstanding contributions in culture, education, Indigenous relations, diplomatic relations, business, mining and more. 

 

Dr. Kevin McCormick also serves as President and Vice-Chancellor of Huntington University.
