Dr. Kevin McCormick Awarded National Order from Burkina Faso

Dr. Kevin McCormick, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Huntington University, has been appointed to the rank of Knight of the Order of the Stallion (Chevalier de l’Ordre de l’Etalon) by The Council of National Orders, Presidency of Faso Grand Chancellery of Burkinabe Orders. The Knight of the Order of the Stallion, which is a National Order and the highest honour the government of Burkina Faso can bestow, rewards personal merit and/or eminent civil or military services rendered to the nation. The medal was presented on Friday, July 29, 2022 during a private investiture ceremony held at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Ottawa, in recognition of his exemplary support of the nation and its people through initiatives such as his support of post-secondary students and institutions in Burkina Faso.

 

“Dr. Kevin McCormick is a great friend to the nation of Burkina Faso, a champion for human rights and education, and an extremely worthy recipient of this National Order from the Presidency of Burkina Faso for his service to our nation.  His outstanding dedication to Burkina Faso through his endless commitment to our people will be felt for generations to come, seismically in the areas social justice and education.  His passionate and inspiring work was critical during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic where he was instrumental in ensuring that countless students, especially in the areas of medicine and community development, were able to continue their studies and life sustaining work providing support to those individuals and families directly impacted by the pandemic.  For his incredible service to the Nation of Burkina Faso the President is honoured, on behalf of the country, to award him with the Knight of the Order of the Stallion, our highest national honour.”
