Peruvian Canadian Institute Appoints Representative in Peru

Dr. Kevin McCormick, Founding President of the Peruvian Canadian Institute with Dr. Liliana Mayo, Founder and Executive Director of Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú, PCI Distinguished Fellow (2021), and PCI Ambassador in Peru.


The Peruvian Canadian Institute, an initiative of Huntington University based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada has named Dr. Liliana Mayo, Founder and Executive Director of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú, as an ambassador within Peru for its organization.

Dr. Liliana Mayo is the Executive Director and Founder of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru (CASP) in Lima, Peru, which serves more than 400 students with different abilities (autism and other developmental disabilities) and their families. She is an Adjunct Faculty of the Department of Applied Behavioral Science at the University of Kansas, where she obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees and also Faculty in the University Cayetano Heredia in Peru. She has received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Universidad Ricardo Palma and the Universidad Femenina del SagradoCorazón de Jesús (UNIFE), The Distinguished Service Citation Award of the University of Kansas in the US and Honorary Professor at the Universidad Peruana Mayor de San Marcos. In May 2021, Dr. Mayo was presented with a Distinguished Fellowship award from the Peruvian Canadian Institute.  She is also a contributor to the Peruvian Canadian Institute’s recently published bilingual Bicentennial commemorative book, Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial.

About the Peruvian Canadian Institute

The Peruvian Canadian Institute, which has been in development since 2015 and is led by Founding President, Dr. Kevin McCormick, is an initiative of Huntington University based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.  The Peruvian Canadian Institute aims to support enhanced relationships between Peru and Canada through its activities which include a Distinguished Fellowship program, academic awards, educational partnerships, as well as events in both Peru and Canada.  Most recently, the Peruvian Canadian Institute launched a bilingual book to commemorate the Bicentennial entitled, Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial. During 2021, the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru, the Peruvian Canadian Institute played an active role in celebrating and highlighting outstanding contributions in culture, education, Indigenous relations, diplomatic relations, business, mining and more. 


Dr. Kevin McCormick also serves as President and Vice-Chancellor of Huntington University.
