(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) – The Peruvian Canadian Institute is celebrating the launch of a second bilingual book focused on international relations between Peru and Canada. The book entitled, Common Ground and Shared Visions: Bilateral Relations Between Peru and Canada | Puntos en común, vision compartida: Relaciones bilaterales entre Perú y Canadá, was unveiled during a private event held in Ottawa on June 17th at the official residence of the Peruvian Ambassador to Canada.
The official Canadian launch of the book was graciously hosted by His Excellency Manuel Gerardo Talavera Espinar, in collaboration with the Peruvian Canadian Institute, and included members of the Peruvian diplomatic corps as well as Canadian government officials.
“The Peruvian Canadian Institute takes great pride in celebrating the Canadian launch of our latest bilingual book with the Embassy of Peru in Ottawa. This collection includes the insightful writings of diplomats, government officials, members of academia and the military, and captures the essence of what the institute was created to celebrate – the shared values of education, inclusion, service and respect that unite our peoples,” said Dr. Kevin McCormick, Founding President of the Peruvian Canadian Institute. “I would like to personally thank His Excellency Manuel Gerardo Talavera Espinar, Ambassador of Peru to Canada, for his continued support of the institute and its activities, and for collaborating on this project which has brought together an impressive group of influential voices from both nations.”

Common Ground and Shared Visions: Bilateral Relations Between Peru and Canada | Puntos en común, vision compartida: Relaciones bilaterales entre Perú y Canadá includes 11 articles written by a diverse cross-section of influential writers from both Canada and Peru. Among them, Mr. Jean-Dominique Ieraci, Ambassador of Canada to Peru, and the Honorable Senator Rosa Galvez, a Canadian environmental engineer, researcher, educator and independent senator whose early life in Peru laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to environmental science.
“As a Distinguished Fellow of the Peruvian Canadian Institute since 2021, I am honoured to have been selected to write for this book,” said Senator Galvez. “Environmental protection and issues of sustainability are key cooperation issues between our two countries, and play a significant role in discussions surrounding bilateral relations between Peru and Canada. As two resource-rich nations with globally significant ecosystems, Canada-Peru cooperation in this area is of essential importance and vital to trade and economic prosperity. I would like to thank the Peruvian Canadian Institute for publishing this book and sharing my essay, along with the many other important articles highlighting topics of value to both nations.”
