You may apply to register at our residence if you are a full-time Laurentian student. Huntington provides co-ed accommodation for 164 students. There are 68 double rooms and 28 single rooms *; all of which have telephone and Internet access. There are also four kitchens, four common rooms, one exercise room, one games room, a library, reading room, Teaching and Learning Centre and a social centre. You have the option of cooking your own food or enrolling in one of several meal plans offered at the Great Hall of Laurentian University.

Our student council and proctor system play a vital role in the day-to-day running of our residence. We also offer a roster of activities beginning with orientation week, the annual Trek Weekend in October, Christmas festivities, a formal at year’s end, and a variety of sports. Counselling on academic and personal matters are available through Health Services throughout the year. You will also get to know our Huntington professors if you enroll in our courses!

Residence Fees

The fee for accommodation from September 2017 to April 2018, including the $300 room deposit, is: Double room: $5,000, Single room: $6,000, and Double/single: $7,000.

If you are a new student who is accepting our offer of residence accommodation, you must submit a $550 deposit (certified cheque, VISA, Internet banking or money order).

Please note that the $550 deposit is non-refundable.

The first installment for your residence fees is due on Friday September 15th, 2017. The second installment is due on Friday January 12th, 2018.  For more information please contact Lisa Levasseur at 705 673 4126 ext. 200.

Once you have paid your first term residence fees, the $550 deposit breakdown covers the $200 caution fee; $300 room deposit; and $50 student activity fee.

The $200 caution fee is required as security against damage. The fee is refundable by mail at the end of the academic year or at the end of your stay at Huntington, less any charges incurred in the previous session.

The $300 room deposit is non-refundable. The activity fee is $50, of which $5 is given to the bursary fund. This fee is non-refundable after the move-in day, subject to appeal to the Huntington University Residence Student Council.

The residence must be vacated for the Christmas holidays within 24 hours of the last scheduled examination at Laurentian University. You may return on the Saturday before the second term of Winter Session begins. You are expected to leave residence within two days following your final exam in April. Anyone still in residence after April 30 will be charged additional fees unless special permission is granted by the Dean of Residence or Residence Supervisor.

Students moving out of residence on or before September 30th will forfeit half their first term residence fees. Students moving out of residence after October 1st will forfeit all of their first-term residence fees. Students who notify administration prior to December 1st that they will not be here for second-term will be refunded their $300.00 second-term room deposit, along with their fill 2nd term portion of residence fees if a full-year payment was made. Students moving out on or before January 31st will forfeit half their second-term fees. Students moving out of residence after February 1st will forfeit al of their second-term residence fees.
